Our Approach
Jesus', Paul's and Our Approach
2 Timothy 2:2 presents the approach of disciples of Jesus coming alongside others so they might learn to come alongside others who will be ready to come alongside others. This is called "equipping." It is not a program but is a strategy for building strong followers of Jesus who understand faith basics and are willing to hand those basics off to others. They also understand how to have relationships with depth. Yet avoid allowing these relationships to become cliques but instead they are to multiply themselves with and through maturing individuals.
Our Story
My Story
I was first discipled as a college freshman with the understand I would share what I was shown with someone else. That was over 40 years ago and I am still handing off that and other lessons most effectively, one on one. In recent years I've also come to understand how 3-5 people together can work to sharpen each other with one person leading the process. My partners and I work on Bible study techniques, prayer patterns and life changing Bible lessons using this partnership pattern. I continue to learn as does my fellow disciple(s). We strengthen each other, learn from each other and prepare to help other to be strengthen and learn as they can strengthen and equip others.
Meet the Team
I was called to ministry as an 8 year old in revival meetings. I head the Holy Spirit asked me, "Steve will you serve me to the ends of the earth?" I said "Yes Lord!" Every since then I have been attempting to keep my word. I thought I would be doing missions in far reaches of the world but instead I've been a pastor in the Mennonite/Anabaptist tradition for just under 30 years. I moved to North Carolina without a church assignment in 2014 but the Holy Spirit gave me the job of creating discipleship material that is specifically for one on one person guiding a group of no larger than five in one settings. This material needs to be adaptable and transferrable and free. So this is my attempt at offering discipleship lessons that are tools for you to use. I have put together lessons that address issues of lifestyle as followers of Jesus. Theology will be mixed in but my true strength is character development - taking on the character of Christ. This being said feel free to adapt these lessons to your Christian tradition or biases. I truly believe the church in this generation has much to learn about intentionality in equipping disciples who not only have good theology but who understand the lifestyle of the follower of Jesus. May God bless your journey of equipping followers of Jesus who equip followers of Jesus who equip followers of Jesus....
I am a lover of sports, jigsaw puzzles, groups, puns and Calvin and Hobbes. I'm a husband to my college sweetheart and we've been married 37 years. I'm. presently working at an Alphagraphics in charge of sending advertising fliers (junk mail) and assisting non profits in fundraiser mailing plus producing large format materials.
